Finding cheapest Iceland car rental company

In this article I will review Iceland rental car companies websites to find out which ones are cheapest.

There are thousands of people looking to rent a car in Iceland each week and there are many car rental companies who are trying to do the best that they would be chosen. I am checking all cheapest (at least companies say that about themselves) rental companies in Iceland to rent a car in Keflavik airport for one day during busy summer peak. So let’s see what we can get.

Section “what included” contains the information what these companies offers on their website before booking.

Price per day : 14720 ISK
What included : Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) – Deductible 320,000 ISK

Cheapest option : Nissan Micra
Price per day : 8000 ISK
What included : Free insurance, Unlimited mileage, 24/7 road assistance.
Note that : minimum booking is for 2 days
5% discount when you book 7 days or more
10% discount when you book 14 days or more

3. https://www.hertz.is/
Cheapest option : Toyota Aygo
Price per day : 15000 ISK
What included : CDW (Collision damage waiver)

4. http://www.budget.is
Cheapest option : Hyundai i10
Price per day : 23400 ISK
What included : Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Vehicle Registration Fee (VRF), Airport/city surcharge, Unlimited Mileage.
Note that : You must be between 18 and 85 years old to rent this car. If you are aged between 18 and 20, a young driver surcharge of 1000.- ISK per day applies.

Cheapest option : Toyota Aygo
Price per day : 7500 ISK
What included :Unlimited Kilometer, Fuel Discount Key
Note that : minimum booking is for 2 days. Can’t find information about insurance included or not. The website is saying that hey have “Best prices in Iceland”.

Cheapest option : Ford Mondeo Wagon
Price per day : 18000 ISK
What included :Third party liability, Theft protection, Excess 1600 EUR, Fuel policy Full to Full, Personal accident insurance, Collision damage waiver, Unlimited mileage.

7. http://sadcars.com/
Cheapest option : Toyota Avensis
Price per day : 15000 ISK
What included : Nothing. You have to pay extra for all other features that you want. Also website looks very cheap.

8. https://www.bluecarrental.is/
Cheapest option : Toyota Aygo
Price per day : 9900 ISK
What included : Third party liability, Theft protection, Personal accident insurance, Collision damage waiver, Unlimited mileage.
Note that : minimum booking is for 2 days.

9. https://www.carrentalsiniceland.com/
Cheapest option : Hyundai i10
Price per day : 11000 ISK
What included : Nothing. You have to pay extra for all other features that you want.

10. https://carrenters.is/
Cheapest option : Suzuki Alto
Price per day : 8000 ISK
What included : Website does not say anything.
Note that : This website allows you to rent a car from local people so you will never know in what condition you will get the car. Also I heard the stories about non predictable cancelation from this site.

11. https://www.cardelmar.com/
Cheapest option : Skoda Fabia
Price per day : 6000 ISK
What included : Insurance
Note that : This website is for cheap worldwide renting and they are able to offer cheap prices.

So in conclusion I found cheapest rental website outside Iceland. www.cardelmar.com/ are able to offer cheapest price. It is strange that known company outside Iceland can offer cheaper price than all local companies. 

Also always you can get cheaper deals if you are booking car months ahead.
