Hveravellir hot springs

After very long driving in highlands we found these hot springs. That is a very good place to stop and relax for a while. In Hveravellir you can find geothermal area which is worth to see and a hot pot where temperature reaches up to 40 degrees C. While in a hot pot be careful because one side where hot water is coming from is too hot – don’t get burned. Also rocks in hot pot are very slippery. But the view and knowing that you are somewhere in highlands swimming between 2 glaciers feels good. I noticed only one problem – 500 ISK fee for the pool per person. While other ones hot pots are free this one is somehow charged..

While walking around geothermal area you will see many holes with boiling water and steams coming out from cracks of surface. Everything around is hot, be careful when it is raining or snowing it could be very slippery.

Finding place – EASY
Distance from Reykjavik – 216 km going through gravel and jeep roads.
